Apple unveils iPad Air (M3) with upgraded performance and new magic keyboard

Apple has officially announced an updated iPad Air powered by the M3 chip, along with a redesigned Magic Keyboard featuring a larger trackpad. The new iPad Air (M3) is now available for pre-order, starting at S$899.
Performance Boost with M3 Chip
The latest iPad Air is equipped with the M3 chip, originally launched in October 2023. Unlike the MacBook Air’s M3 variant with an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU, the iPad Air (M3) features an 8-core CPU and a 9-core GPU. According to Apple, this upgrade makes the device nearly twice as fast as the iPad Air (M1) and up to 3.5 times faster than the model with the A14 chip.
Redesigned Magic Keyboard
Apple has also introduced a new Magic Keyboard for the iPad Air, borrowing key features from the iPad Pro’s Magic Keyboard. The updated design includes a larger trackpad, a 14-key function row, a USB-C connector for pass-through charging, and a machined aluminum hinge for improved stability.
Display, Camera, and Connectivity
Aside from the internal upgrade, the new iPad Air retains familiar features, including a choice between 11-inch and 13-inch Liquid Retina displays, a single 12MP rear camera, and Wi-Fi 6E support. Additionally, it is compatible with Apple Intelligence and supports both the Apple Pencil Pro and USB-C Apple Pencil.
The new Magic Keyboard is priced at S$399 for the 11-inch model and S$449 for the 13-inch version. It will be available in stores starting 12 March.
Availability
Pre-orders for the iPad Air (M3) are now open through the Apple Online Store and Apple Store app. It will also be available on Apple’s official storefronts on Lazada and Shopee. Retail sales will begin on 12 March.
While the changes in this update are incremental, the iPad Air (M3) remains a compelling option for those looking to invest in a new tablet with powerful performance and enhanced accessories.
