Apple is reportedly preparing to expand its entry-level iPhone lineup with the introduction of the iPhone 17e, expected to arrive in the first half of 2026. After the earlier-than-anticipated release of the iPhone 16e in February 2025, the 17e is all set to continue Apple’s strategy of offering affordable smartphones packed with current-generation technology.

Apple plans to equip the iPhone 17e with the new A19 chipset, the same processor slated for its flagship iPhone 17 series, according to sources familiar with the matter. This marks a notable upgrade over the A18 chip found in the iPhone 16e, signaling Apple’s intention to deliver robust performance even in its lower-priced segment. The A19 chip could also help future-proof the device for upcoming Apple Intelligence integrations.

Insiders suggest that the iPhone 17e will maintain the physical form of its predecessor. The device is expected to feature a 48-megapixel single rear camera, standard notch with Face ID, and no Dynamic Island. This continuation of design may allow Apple to keep production costs stable while providing a familiar user experience.

Despite speculation, Apple is unlikely to include the Dynamic Island feature in the 17e model. The feature is expected to remain exclusive to standard and Pro models, preserving tiered differentiation within the iPhone range.

The iPhone 17e is anticipated to launch around spring 2026, likely mirroring the 16e’s February release. The internal development codename for the device is V159. The launch may coincide with other hardware refreshes, including M5-powered MacBook Pros, new iPads, and an updated Apple display.

Industry watchers note that Apple’s push with the “e” series signals a move toward consistent annual updates for its budget iPhones. This development may gradually phase out the SE branding. The iPhone 17e, with high-end internals and a modest price point, is expected to appeal to a broader customer base looking for value without compromising on core features.
