Apple has introduced its most budget-friendly iPhone yet, the iPhone 16e, priced at ₹59,900 for the 128GB variant. While it packs the latest A18 chip and supports Apple Intelligence, the device lacks MagSafe, Dynamic Island, and Ultra-Wideband (UWB)—a move that has sparked curiosity among tech enthusiasts.

Why Did Apple Remove MagSafe?

MagSafe, introduced with the iPhone 12, allows for faster wireless charging and magnetic accessories. However, Apple has stated that the target audience for the iPhone 16e prefers wired charging, making MagSafe unnecessary for this model. Instead, Apple has opted for a USB Type-C port, replacing the older Lightning connector.

The iPhone 16e supports only 7.5W Qi wireless charging, significantly slower than the 15W MagSafe charging on the iPhone 16 and 25W on the iPhone 16 Pro. Apple believes that most users at this price point rely on wired charging, so eliminating MagSafe helps reduce costs.

No Ultra-Wideband? Apple Explains

Another missing feature is Ultra-Wideband (UWB), which enables precise location tracking for AirTags and seamless device connectivity. Apple has justified this removal, stating that budget-conscious buyers are less likely to use UWB features, and cutting it helps keep the iPhone 16e’s price affordable.

iPhone 16e Price in India: Is It Worth It?

With a starting price of ₹59,900, the iPhone 16e is the most affordable entry into Apple’s ecosystem. However, older models like the iPhone 15 (₹69,900) and the latest iPhone 16 (₹79,900) frequently go on sale, offering additional features like MagSafe and UWB at a competitive price.

For users who prioritize affordability and wired charging over advanced features, the iPhone 16e remains a solid choice. But for those wanting MagSafe, Dynamic Island, and UWB, spending a bit more might be worth considering.

Would you opt for the iPhone 16e or go for a higher-end model? Let us know your thoughts!
