Apple has unveiled the MacBook Neo, a new entry-level laptop priced at $599, marking the company’s most affordable MacBook in more than ten years. The device features a 13-inch Liquid Retina display, the A18 Pro chip, and Apple Intelligence support.

Apple has introduced the MacBook Neo, a new entry-level laptop aimed at making the Mac ecosystem more accessible to a wider audience. Starting at $599, the MacBook Neo represents Apple’s most affordable MacBook release in over a decade.

The launch expands Apple’s current laptop lineup, which now includes the MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and the newly introduced MacBook Neo. Apple described the device as “an amazing Mac at a surprising price,” positioning it as a gateway product for users entering the Mac ecosystem.

Design and Display

The MacBook Neo features a 13-inch Liquid Retina display, offering vibrant colors and sharp visuals for everyday computing tasks. The laptop also includes a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, Apple’s Magic Keyboard, and a large multi-touch trackpad designed to enhance user productivity and comfort.

In line with Apple’s sustainability goals, the laptop is built from 90% recycled aluminum and weighs around 1.23 kilograms, making it lightweight and portable for students and professionals.

Performance and Hardware

Powering the device is the Apple A18 Pro chip, previously introduced in the company’s iPhone lineup. Combined with 8GB of memory and up to 512GB of storage, the chip is designed to deliver smooth performance for everyday tasks such as web browsing, media streaming, and productivity applications.

Apple also highlighted improvements in on-device artificial intelligence processing, claiming the MacBook Neo delivers faster browsing and enhanced AI capabilities compared with some competing Windows laptops.

Connectivity and Software

The laptop includes two USB-C ports and a headphone jack, along with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth connectivity for faster wireless performance.

The MacBook Neo runs on macOS Tahoe, Apple’s latest operating system, and supports Apple Intelligence, the company’s suite of AI-powered tools designed to enhance productivity, creativity, and everyday computing.

Battery Life and Colors

Apple claims the laptop can deliver up to 16 hours of video streaming or about 11 hours of web browsing, providing a full day of battery life for typical use.

The MacBook Neo is available in Silver, Blush, Citrus, and Indigo color options, giving users a more vibrant range of choices compared to traditional MacBook finishes.

Availability

Pre-orders for the MacBook Neo are now open, with the device scheduled to officially go on sale on March 11. Apple has also announced education pricing starting at $499, making it particularly attractive for students and academic institutions.

The launch signals Apple’s renewed focus on affordable computing devices as it aims to attract new users to its ecosystem while maintaining strong performance and design standards.
