The new foldable iPhone is expected to take a “wide-style” route, folding inwards along with a 7.58-inch main display, thus providing an experience not much different than that of a mini iPad. The screen outside will be smaller, about 5.25 inches in size, and it is being speculated that a hole-punch camera will be there, inasmuch as it might be used for basic activity. The sources are saying that Apple has made inroads into a foldable display with almost zero crease visibility by using the latest glass technology from its suppliers including Corning and SCHOTT.
A leak from digital chat station who is a noted tipster has been shared on Weibo which suggests that the iPhone Fold might have a side-mounted fingerprint sensor instead of Face ID. Analysts see this as a possibility that two main design decisions have been taken: removal of Face ID hardware to keep the device thin and use of a physical sensor over the less reliable under-display fingerprint technology for this first generation model.
The rear camera setup is likely to consist of two lens system with at least one 48MP sensor. Some experts opine that, besides being transferred to standard Pro-series, Apple may still be considering the foldable to be slimmer, more durable, and with better hinge stability as the priority areas, rather than having multiple lenses.
Rumors have it that the iPhone Fold will be introduced at the same time as other gadgets listed in Apple’s 2026 plans. The budget-friendly iPhone 17e is predicted to be launched in spring, while the fall could see the releases of the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the foldable iPhone, which might even have the iPhone Ultra name.
With the announcement of the foldable smartphone, Apple has changed its strategy one more time and has become totally aligned with market trends although still being the one with design innovations. The first official foldable iPhone is still some time away from being launched but consumers and tech enthusiasts continue to watch these developments closely.
