Apple unveiled its iPhone 17 lineup at its annual event Tuesday, with the iPhone Air taking the spotlight. However, the company also refreshed the standard iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Pro, both of which bring changes in size, storage, and camera systems.
The iPhone 17 now carries a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 3,000 nits. It runs on Apple’s A19 chip with iOS 26. Buyers can choose between 256GB and 512GB storage models, priced at Rs 82,900 and Rs 1,02,900, respectively. Color choices include Lavender, Mist Blue, Sage, White, and Black.
The iPhone 17 Pro retains the same display specifications but introduces the A19 Pro processor and a vapor chamber cooling system. Storage options extend further, starting at 256GB (Rs 1,34,900) and going up to 2TB (Rs 2,29,900). It is available in Cosmic Orange, Deep Blue, and Silver finishes.
On the camera front, the iPhone 17 features a dual setup: a 48MP primary sensor with f/1.6 aperture that doubles as a 2X telephoto, and a 48MP ultra-wide lens with macro capability. The front camera is 18MP.
The iPhone 17 Pro adds a third rear sensor, making it Apple’s first model to include 48MP resolution across wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto lenses. The front camera specification is unchanged from the standard version.
Battery performance also sees incremental changes. Apple states the iPhone 17 delivers up to 30 hours of video playback, while the iPhone 17 Pro lasts about an hour longer. Both models support 40W fast charging, reaching 50 per cent in about 20 minutes.
The expanded storage options, new color finishes, and upgraded processors distinguish the Pro model, while the standard iPhone 17 offers a lower-priced entry into the 2025 lineup.
