Apple iPhone 17 Event Sept 9: Air, Pro, Pro Max Reveals Shocking Features

Apple Inc. has confirmed its annual autumn product launch, scheduled for September 9 at 10 AM Pacific Time (10:30 PM IST), where it is expected to showcase its new iPhone 17 lineup. Updates to the Apple Watch series and the next-generation AirPods Pro 3 are also anticipated.

Reports and leaks have pointed to several design changes in the upcoming iPhones. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, this year may mark the start of a three-year design cycle, with a foldable iPhone expected in 2026.

The standard iPhone 17 is likely to receive design refinements, adopting features similar to the Pro models. Rumors indicate a 6.3-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a notable upgrade from previous models’ 60Hz screens. The front camera may be upgraded to 24 megapixels, while new colour options, including purple and green, could be introduced. Expected starting price is around $800.

The iPhone 17 Pro may feature a revised camera layout with a horizontal bar housing three cameras, while flash and sensors are positioned separately. The device may switch from a titanium to an aluminum frame, reducing weight and potentially lowering manufacturing costs. Analysts predict pricing at approximately $1,100, with storage options likely starting at 256GB, alongside 512GB and 1TB variants. New finishes in dark blue and copper could be offered.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max may see incremental updates, including a slightly thicker body to house a larger battery. Prices are expected near $1,250.

Apple may introduce a new iPhone Air, replacing the Plus model. The device is reportedly 5.5mm thick, slimmer than Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge. Despite its thin frame, it could feature a 6.6-inch display. Leaks suggest only one rear camera and the absence of a bottom-firing speaker. Battery capacity may be limited, with an optional battery case potentially available. Predicted launch price ranges from $899 to $950, with black, silver, and light gold as likely colour options.

Apple is also expected to launch new cases for the iPhone 17 Pro, called “TechWoven,” which use a durable fabric and may include detachable crossbody straps.

The Apple Watch Ultra 3, Series 11, and SE 3 may receive updates. Ultra 3 is reported to feature a larger display, faster charging, satellite connectivity, 5G support, and potential health monitoring, including blood pressure and sleep apnea detection, though some features may be delayed. Series 11 may receive moderate updates, while SE 3 could see a larger screen, with pricing expected around $250 for SE, $400 for Series 11, and $800 for Ultra 3.

Apple may unveil AirPods Pro 3, with a smaller form factor, touch-sensitive controls, and a slimmer charging case. The new H3 chip is expected to improve active noise cancellation and adaptive audio performance, enhancing sound quality in the premium earbuds.
