Apple is gearing up for its much-awaited “Awe Dropping” event on September 9 at 10:30 PM IST, where the company is expected to unveil the iPhone 17 lineup, new Apple Watch models, and AirPods Pro 3. The event could mark Apple’s biggest hardware refresh in years, as the tech giant faces pressure to prove its AI strategy and regain momentum in the smartphone market.
iPhone 17 Series: The Highlights
The star of the show will be the iPhone 17 series, with four models expected: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and the all-new iPhone 17 Air.
- iPhone 17 Air: Ultra-thin design at just 5.5mm, 6.6-inch 120Hz display, hybrid titanium-aluminum frame, lighter than Pro models. It may carry a single rear camera and smaller battery, priced around $899 (₹79,000 approx.).
- iPhone 17: Similar design to iPhone 16, new 24MP selfie camera, and ProMotion 120Hz displays across the lineup.
- iPhone 17 Pro & Pro Max: Redesigned pill-shaped camera module, new processor, 48MP telephoto with 8x optical zoom, and lighter aluminum backs.
All models will ship with iOS 26.
New Apple Watch Models
- Apple Watch Series 11: Expected to debut with blood-pressure tracking (without diastolic readings), a larger battery, updated S11 chip, and 5G RedCap connectivity.
- Apple Watch Ultra 3: May include satellite connectivity for emergency SOS and messaging in remote areas, plus a brighter display.
AirPods Pro 3
Apple’s new AirPods Pro 3 could bring a refreshed design, improved noise cancellation, and faster H3 chip. Reports suggest heart-rate and temperature monitoring, along with real-time translation features.
What Not to Expect
- Apple Vision Pro: A refreshed version is rumored for late 2025, but unlikely to appear at this event.
- New iPads or Macs: Apple typically reserves these for October or November launches. The M5 MacBook Pro is expected only in early 2026.
Why This Event Matters
With slowing iPhone sales, rising competition, and investor concerns over AI, the September event is critical for CEO Tim Cook to reaffirm Apple’s dominance in hardware and software integration while expanding into AI-driven features.
