In the beginning of November, Apple intends to roll out the iOS 26.1 update that will bring a variety of functional and interface enhancements for the iPhone users. Although the precise date for the update remains uncertain, some sources are talking about it being as early as November 3 or 4, which would be soon after the expected final beta version is released next week.

The update comes with a lot of options for customization and minor changes to usability. One big change is the appearance of a new toggle for the Liquid Glass display. This setting can be found under Settings > Display & Brightness > Liquid Glass. The Liquid Glass feature offers two modes for the look of the interface: “Clear,” which shows a completely transparent interface, and “Tinted,” which gives a subdued, opaque look.

The iOS 26.1 updates the Lock Screen features as well. There is a toggle that disables the camera swipe; this will help users to prevent the "accidental camera opening" incident. The toggle is provided under “Lock Screen Swipe to Open Camera,” and it effectively addresses the user complaints regarding the unintended gestures.

The Clock app is getting an update with a new “slide to stop” alarm gesture which does away with the traditional single-stop button. The new method is a way to avoid accidental dismissals of alarms which was reported earlier with iOS 26 versions.

There will also be more interactive controls for Apple Music. In the near future, users will be able to swipe through songs right inside the app, thus the navigation will get simpler and the management of playback will be improved.

Branding updates are accompanying the release as well. The Apple TV+ service is to be renamed Apple TV and a new lively and colored icon that matches the company’s recent visual identity will mark the transition.

Apple Intelligence, the company’s virtual assistant, has been given a language lifting which now includes support for ten additional languages. Accordingly, stretches of usability throughout regions will be easy as making a click.

Users of AirPods will differently experience the Live Translation feature as they would have Japanese, Korean, Italian, and both Traditional and Simplified Chinese languages added for real-time translation. The AirPods 4 (ANC), AirPods Pro 2, and AirPods Pro 3 are all equipped with the feature.

In addition, iOS 26.1 on the security front comes with a new system called Background Security Improvements that automatically applies security patches between major updates. The new feature is an upgrade over the Rapid Security Response system and it is the fastest protection against the ever-evolving online threats.
