Google's Quick Share, which was first available only for the Pixel 10 series, will allow more Android smartphones to interact with Apple's AirDrop as per Qualcomm's recent claims. The update shared on X mentions that all Snapdragon based Androids will be able to connect with AirDrop "in the near future" once the feature is turned on.

The feature going over to Quick Share also means that Android devices with Google Pixel 10 and the Tensor chip are no longer the only ones to enjoy the perk. Apart from that, there will also be file transfer compatibility for Samsung's Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 7 powered by Snapdragon processors, making it even possible to share files between iPhones and Androids thus bridging the gap of sharing between the two.

For Samsung devices with Exynos or MediaTek processors, the official details are not very clear. However, some analysts in the field are of the opinion that Quick Share might not be needing a specialized hardware. This means that the feature could gradually be made available to almost all contemporary Android smartphones, but Google has not given any confirmation about that yet.

The Quick Share compatible with AirDrop was firstly rolled out by Google through a Google Play System update for the Pixel 10. The company indicated that other models might get the same update but has not divulged the exact rollout time. The users of the devices are encouraged to stay alert for system updates so that they can utilize the new feature.

The announcement made by Qualcomm points to a growing effort to enhance cross-platform file sharing, which has consistently been a highly requested feature among Android and iOS users. The broader release could greatly improve device interoperability and make it easier to transfer photos, documents, and other files between these two competing platforms.
