Amazon India recorded its largest Prime Day to date in 2025, witnessing record-breaking sales volumes, extensive participation from small businesses, and increasing consumer activity in tier 2 and tier 3 cities.
According to Amazon, more Prime members participated this year than in any previous Prime Day. Sales surpassed all earlier records, driven by strong demand across electronics, fashion, household items, and new product launches. Over 70 per cent of new Prime sign-ups came from smaller towns and cities.
Amazon reported that small and medium businesses saw the highest-ever participation and sales during the event, with over 68 per cent of those sellers coming from outside major metro areas.
Akshay Sahi, Head of Amazon Prime, Delivery and Returns Experiences, India and Emerging Markets, attributed the success to the contributions of sellers, logistics teams, and bank partnerships. He also highlighted increased investments in operations and employee welfare, enabling faster delivery performance across India.
Top brands introduced over 400 new products during the sale. Prime customers purchased across categories including smartphones, televisions, laptops, fashion, groceries, and furniture. Major contributors to growth included brands like Samsung, OnePlus, Apple, BoAt, Atomberg, Puma, Bajaj, and others.
In consumer electronics, AI-powered laptops, premium tablets, and smart wearables topped the charts. Home and kitchen product categories delivered 1.2 times the growth compared to the previous year. Furniture, especially recliners and ergonomic chairs, recorded over 10 times growth.
Fitness-related products such as treadmills and gym equipment saw a 1.5 times increase. Apparel, including traditional and formal wear, also expanded sales by 1.5 times. The demand for premium cosmetics and luxury beauty brands saw a jump of up to 7 times.
Amazon Fresh achieved peak order volumes with a 90 per cent boost in demand from tier 2 and 3 cities. Baby care, organic grocery, sustainable home products, and pet care products registered steep growth. Health and wellness items, including supplements and whey proteins, also gained traction.
Business buyers on Amazon Business showed heightened activity, with new registrations tripling. Bulk ordering surged, particularly for electronics and office essentials. Categories such as TVs, tablets, printers, and laptops recorded spikes ranging from 5 to 13 times.
Affordability options helped fuel growth in premium segments. Over 30 per cent of customers opted for no-cost EMIs, exchange offers, and bank discounts. Premium smartphones priced above Rs 30,000 grew by 60 per cent, with tier 2+ regions accounting for the majority of this demand.
Amazon Pay also saw higher engagement, with 1.4 times more users using the ICICI credit card for purchases. Over half of the cardholders were from smaller cities. Amazon Pay Later was widely used, particularly for kitchen, apparel, and beauty purchases.
On the entertainment front, Prime Video launched 17 titles in multiple languages during the Prime Day window. Panchayat Season 4 topped viewership charts across 180 countries. The Traitors, Amazon’s new unscripted series, performed strongly across India.
International titles such as Heads of State and various Korean and Japanese shows saw significant viewership across India. Prime Video reported engagement from 95 per cent of Indian pin codes.
Amazon reiterated that Prime membership continues to grow with benefits including expedited delivery, exclusive deals, entertainment content, and cashback offers. The company offers same-day, next-day, and 4-hour delivery options on millions of products.
