Why Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang to miss India AI impact summit?

Nvidia has confirmed that CEO Jensen Huang will not attend the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi next week due to unforeseen circumstances, though the event will proceed with global leaders and top tech CEOs.
Nvidia has confirmed that its Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang will not be attending the India AI Impact Summit scheduled to begin next week in New Delhi.
Huang, who was expected to address the media on February 17, cancelled his visit due to what the company described as “unforeseen circumstances.” Nvidia’s India media agency conveyed the update on Saturday without providing further details.
Huang’s absence is being closely noted, as he was among the most anticipated speakers at the summit. However, organisers said the event’s scale and significance remain unchanged, with a strong lineup of global leaders, policymakers, and technology executives still confirmed.
Summit to Proceed With Global Participation
The five-day summit, running from February 16 to 20, will be inaugurated by Narendra Modi and will host senior leaders from more than 45 countries.
Top technology executives expected to attend include Sundar Pichai, Sam Altman, and Dario Amodei, alongside ministers, regulators, and representatives from international organisations.
Several heads of state are also slated to participate, reinforcing the summit’s global importance amid growing debates around AI governance and regulation.
Focus Areas and Packed Agenda
The India AI Impact Summit is structured around three core themes — People, Planet, and Progress — with discussions centred on AI’s impact on jobs, sustainability, ethical deployment, and global cooperation.
Key highlights include:
February 16: India AI Expo featuring startups and innovators
February 17: High-level policy panels and release of AI knowledge guides
February 18: Research-focused sessions with academics and think tanks
February 19: Formal inauguration and CEO investment roundtable led by the Prime Minister
February 20: GPAI Council meetings and signing of a Leaders’ Declaration on responsible AI
Global Spotlight on New Delhi
The summit has already triggered a surge in demand for luxury accommodation in New Delhi, with premium hotel suites reportedly booked out at record prices. Despite Huang’s absence, the gathering is expected to shape global conversations on AI policy, cooperation, and responsible innovation.
With countries racing to finalise AI frameworks, the outcomes from New Delhi could influence how artificial intelligence is governed worldwide in the years ahead.
