Perplexity AI launches iOS Perplexity voice assistant, rivalling Siri with smart Perplexity features, older iPhone support, and faster voice access.
Perplexity AI Launches Voice Assistant for iOS Users

For the application of iOS, the voice assistant of perplexity AI has been launched as per the recent announcement of Aravind Srinivas, the CEO. The question mark with perplexity raises high when Apple is busy revamping its Siri assistant powered by Apple Intelligence.
The feature was also earlier only for Android users.
"You can ask it to play anything: podcasts, difficult to find videos, favourite tunes. The announcement posted by Srinivas on X stated: "Puerile stuff like `play me the video of Katy Perry kissing the ground after descending from the rocket' and `baby shark Donald Trump edition' and `podcast where Andreessen talks about browsers with lex."'
It's able to set up appointments through Apple Calendar or send an email via Apple Mail; however, Srinivas mentions that the feature is still "janky" at this point in time. Searching for restaurants and reserving cab rides from Uber are also possible using the AI assistant.
After opening the app, the users can tap on the microphone button and then proceed to speak.
Users are also able to keep conversing with the voice assistant even if they are not near the app. Moreover, the app also supports somewhat older iPhone models such as the iPhone 13 as opposed to Apple Intelligence that is only available for models iPhone 15 Pro and above.
The assistant still cannot access the phone camera and provide context for an image, a feature that exists in ChatGPT. It also lacks the capability to access iPhone settings and silence notifications or set alarms.
You can also configure your Action button on your iPhone to Perplexity Voice Mode to use this without needing to launch the app, similar to Siri," he added.
Latest Perplexity AI news has shown that the new Siri has been pushed back further to 2026 as Apple overhauls their leadership.
