OpenAI rolls out new image library for AI-generated vsuals in ChatGPT

OpenAI has officially introduced a brand-new Image Library feature in ChatGPT, giving users a dedicated space to manage, edit, and share all their AI-generated images. Available across both mobile and web platforms, this feature is being gradually rolled out for both free and paid users.
What’s New?
The Library appears as a new option in ChatGPT’s sidebar. Once opened, it presents a visual grid of all images generated by a user in past conversations, making it easy to browse and revisit your AI-created artwork anytime.
But this isn't just a storage space — it’s a creative workspace. Right below the image grid, a “Make images” button lets users start a fresh image-generation session using text prompts, opening a new conversation window for creating visuals on demand.
Key Features
Each image tile in the grid offers several interactive tools:
Edit: Jump back to the original chat where the image was created and tweak the prompt to refine the visual.
Select: Highlight specific areas of an image you want to adjust, enabling precise edits without starting over.
Save & Share: Download or directly share images from your library.
Why It Matters
This update comes shortly after OpenAI rolled out GPT-4o-powered image generation inside ChatGPT — known for producing both lifelike and artistic images. The new Image Library helps users better manage, edit, and reuse their creations through a clean and intuitive interface.
How to Access It
To explore the new Image Library:
Open the ChatGPT mobile app or visit the web version.
Tap on ‘Library’ in the sidebar.
From there, you can manage your visual projects, edit existing images, or generate new ones with ease. This new feature is designed to simplify and enhance the image generation experience inside ChatGPT.
