India's own Artificial Intelligence (AI) model is ready and will be launched at the world's largest AI Impact Summit. India has developed 200 AI models and work in this direction is continuing.
This summit is going to be held from February 16-20 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, where representatives from 100 countries will be present. Heads of state from 15 countries, as well as CEOs of 100 global companies like Google, Nvidia, Microsoft and Reliance, will also be present.
Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Friday that India wants to provide reliable and secure AI models to the entire world. This means that if a person falls ill and asks AI what the treatment for the disease could be, and AI provides an answer.
But the AI's answer can only be trusted if the AI also tells the source of its answer. Only then will it be considered reliable. So far, $70 billion has been invested in AI-related infrastructure and other related developments in India, and this investment is expected to double soon.
Vaishnaw said that India is developing its AI model keeping the entire world in mind, especially the poor countries. Similar to semiconductors, a large number of skilled young people are being trained in India for AI. By providing AI infrastructure to over 500 universities, students there will receive comprehensive training in artificial intelligence.
A comprehensive policy for governing AI is being developed under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister's Principal Scientific Advisor. The government may also consider establishing an AI Economic Council. The Economic Survey, presented last Thursday, recommended the creation of this council.
Vaishnaw said that given the pace of AI's advancement, it seems that significant changes will occur not in a few years, but in a few months. However, the risk of job losses domestically due to AI now appears to be lower. This year, the IT industry has employed 33 percent more people than last year.
The AI Impact Summit is based on seven themes: AI for economic and social well-being, equal opportunities in AI for all, safe and trustworthy AI, social empowerment, AI for science, AI for human resources, and AI for innovation.
