Google AI-Powered Virtual Fashion Experience of 'Try Before You Buy' Comes to India

Presently, Google has been in the process of transforming the online shopping experience of Indian customers by offering a virtual try-on feature powered by artificial intelligence that allows users to check how the garments would look on them before actually buying the same. The revolutionary ‘Try It On’ icon has now started appearing on the garments listings throughout Google which will let consumers view different styles on themselves at once. This move is a part of Google’s wider Shopping Graph ecosystem which is focused on making the whole process of online fashion shopping for Indian users more practical, personalized, and hence, making it their preferred choice.
Try Before You Buy: How It Works
At times, imagining an outfit when shopping online can be an uphill task especially during the busy festive seasons. Google’s virtual try-on tool is there to the rescue among such problems; it asks the users to upload their photo and in return, they will see how the billions of apparel listings would look on them instantly. The tool that was first announced at Google I/O in May and was available with limited access in July is now open to all Indian users.
Google Shopping, AI Mode, product pages on Google Images, and any site that shows apparel listings are the channels through which users can access the tool. The AI first maps the chosen outfit onto the user’s body after the user clicks the “Try It On” button and uploads his/her photo, making a pretty realistic fit.
Backed by AI Tech for Realistic Looks
The tech that this feature is based on is a personalized fashion-based image generation model that is capable of recognizing human anatomies and how different fabric types such as cotton, wool, or polyester affect the body—stretch, fold, and so on—not just for one type but for all kinds of body shapes. The users are given the option to save their best looks, go back to the previous try-ons or even send outfit previews to their friends through texting or social media thereby making the shopping experience not only entertaining but also interactive.
What’s Next: Gemini App Update
Google is also updating its Gemini app along with this launch. Logan Kilpatrick, the Group Product Manager, said that the app will be much more user-friendly and have a cleaner look since it will be getting rid of unnecessary elements and improving the overall experience. The purpose behind this upgrade is to support the virtual try-on feature thus making AI shopping, in general, ever so smooth, aesthetically appealing, and engaging.
Online fashion shopping in India has become smarter, more interactive, and personalized with the Google AI-powered try-on tool.
