Edtech Firms Scramble For AI Adoption

Bengaluru: Edtechs are significantly changing their offerings, leveraging AI tools in order to increase their reach and make their products affordable to millions of students and learners across India.

Many have been integrating AI actively in their offerings not only to save costs but also to provide customised learning services to students.

For instance, Genius Mentor is using AI avatars to make education personalised to the students and learners. These AI avatars like teachers impart lessons on various subjects, and take feedback from students. According to the company, its AI algorithm is able to gauge the learning speed of individual students and accordingly design the learning method. “Our algorithm figures out that what a particular student is weak in and what are his/her strengths are. After taking into account these parameters, a specific learning path is designed for each student,” Mridu Andotra, Founder and CEO of Genius Mentor told the BizzBuzz.

According to Andotra, the company wants to make learning affordable for rural students, who may not be able to afford expensive coaching classes run by big institutions.

There are also other edtech companies, which are personalising learning. For instance, TagHive has recently launched SaathiGPT, which is designed to deliver personalised and contextually relevant learning experiences. PhysicsWallah’s AI suite of products ‘Alakh AI suite’ have been popular among students given the personalised learning experiences.

In order to gain an edge in the AI era, some edtech firms have also acquired entities for faster and better integration of the technology. For instance, Tiger Global backed edtech unicorn, Vedantu had acquired a majority stake in AI-enabled learning platform, Pedagogy way back in 2021. The company fully owned the company by acquiring the remaining stake of Pedagogy last year.
