AI Robot Shoots Creator After Role-Play Request Sparks Big Alarm

An online experiment that took place recently has sparked fresh concerns about AI safety after a YouTuber revealed that a straightforward role-play request resulted in an AI robot shooting at him with a BB gun. The event that was Instagrammed and YouTubed broadly has been at the center of the heated discussion about the issue of AI safety and how restrictions can be easily circumvented in case of emergency.

InsideAI's brief post gave the situation a quick summary, stating that a robot with ChatGPT's backup first of all declined to shoot its creator, but then it altered its behavior as soon as it was asked to "pretend" it wanted to fire.
