The Government of India is developing a mobile application aimed at providing Aadhaar users with a fully digital solution to manage their personal information. The application, being built by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), is expected to allow users to update essential details without visiting Aadhaar Seva Kendras.
The app will enable modifications to core personal information such as name, date of birth, and residential address directly through smartphones. UIDAI officials confirmed that the launch is on track and could happen by the end of 2025.
The mobile solution integrates Artificial Intelligence (AI) with Face ID verification, aiming to offer a secure digital experience for users across the country. Once live, the system will allow Aadhaar holders to update their details online while limiting physical visits to enrollment centers for biometric authentication, including iris and fingerprint scanning.
The application will be equipped to retrieve verified data from government databases, reducing the need for manual document submission. Users may be able to link official records such as PAN cards, passports, driving licences, birth certificates, ration cards, MNREGA records, and utility bills to streamline address verification and other identity updates.
By digitalizing updates, UIDAI intends to simplify procedures, reduce paperwork, and minimize potential identity fraud. The app will ensure that Aadhaar users can access essential services more quickly and conveniently, cutting down on administrative delays.
In parallel, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has launched the Aadhaar Good Governance Portal. This initiative is designed to enhance the efficiency of authentication approvals and improve accessibility for Aadhaar services. The portal aims to ensure smoother processing of requests and broader inclusion for users interacting with the Aadhaar ecosystem.
