The Indian government is developing a dedicated mobile application for Aadhaar holders to update their personal information digitally, avoiding physical visits to Aadhaar Seva Kendras. The application is being created by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) and is expected to launch later this year.
The app will allow users to modify essential personal details, including name, address, and date of birth, through a secure digital interface. The government aims to streamline the process, reduce paperwork, and enhance convenience for millions of Aadhaar users nationwide.
Officials confirmed that the application will incorporate Artificial Intelligence (AI) alongside Face ID technology to provide secure and seamless Aadhaar services. Beginning in November, users will only need to visit enrollment centers for biometric verification, including fingerprint and iris scans. This update will simplify procedures, cut down identity fraud risks, and accelerate processing times.
The app will fetch relevant documents from verified government sources for verification. Supported documents include birth certificates, PAN cards, passports, driving licenses, ration cards under the Public Distribution System (PDS), and MNREGA records. Electricity bills may also be used for smoother address validation.
Alongside the mobile app, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) introduced the Aadhaar Good Governance Portal. The platform is designed to expedite authentication approvals and make Aadhaar-related services more user-friendly. This initiative is expected to increase accessibility and promote inclusive digital governance across India.
While the application is still in development, government sources indicate it is on track for a release before the end of 2025. Once launched, the app will offer a unified digital solution for updating Aadhaar information directly from smartphones.
