Apple is set to streamline its product portfolio as the iPhone 17 lineup takes center stage next week. The company’s September 9 event in California will introduce four iPhone 17 models along with updated Apple Watch versions and possibly a new AirPods Pro model. Following the launch, Apple is expected to phase out several existing devices from its online store and retail shelves.
iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max
The arrival of the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max is likely to push last year’s premium models off Apple’s official catalog. The company traditionally limits its flagship availability, which means the iPhone 16 Pro series will be discontinued, although third-party sellers may continue offering remaining stock.
iPhone 15 and 15 Plus
Apple is also preparing to pull the 2023 iPhone 15 and 15 Plus from its lineup. Once the event concludes, the entry-level iPhone in Apple’s official store is expected to shift to the iPhone 16e. While these models will no longer appear on Apple’s website, existing inventory is expected to remain available through resellers until supplies run out.
Apple Watch Series 10
With the Apple Watch Series 11 on the horizon, the company is poised to retire the Series 10, continuing its usual practice of replacing older watch generations with new models.
Apple Watch Ultra 2
The Apple Watch Ultra 3, expected to debut alongside the new iPhone lineup, will likely replace the Ultra 2, first introduced in 2023. The Ultra 2 only received a color update last year, and the arrival of the new version may mark the end of its production cycle.
Apple Watch SE
Apple may also discontinue the current Watch SE model as it introduces the Watch SE 2. Offering two SE versions simultaneously could complicate production, making the removal of the first-generation SE probable.
