Hyderabad: ZF Lifetec, a leading German automotive safety technology provider, has strengthened its global R&D footprint with the inauguration of a new Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Hyderabad.

The facility, spanning 30,000 square feet, will spearhead the development of cutting-edge safety products, including airbags, seat belts, steering wheels, and electronics. Starting with a team of 200 employees, the company will add 300 professionals over the next 3 to 5 years.

D Sridhar Babu, Minister of Information Technology, Government of Telangana, on Thursday inaugurated the Centre, in the presence of Rudolf Stark, Executive Vice President, ZF Lifetec; Akash Passey, president, ZF Group Region India; and Ravi Kumar Tirumukulu, Head, ZF Lifetec India.

On the launch, Rudolf Stark said, “The inauguration strengthens our global development footprint. Customer proximity is vital for our growth, and India is a rising market. At the same time, we can serve global engineering needs out of India very quickly and competitively.”

ZF Lifetec has reported €4.5 billion in sales, and has a total of 45,243 employees. Its R&D network is present in 32 locations across 15 countries. The Hyderabad facility will work on advancing airbag modules, inflators, seat belt systems, and steering wheels for future mobility.
