Hyderabad: Christmas celebrations were held grandly in Hyderabad on Thursday. The city of Hyderabad was immersed in festive cheer. Iconic landmarks like St Mary’s Basilica (Secunderabad) and all saints church were beautifully illuminated to mark the occasion. Several programmes and congregational prayers were held at the Baptist Church in Narayanaguda. On this occasion, the church resonated with the chanting of Jesus' name. The exhibitions featuring tableaux depicting the birth of Christ were particularly captivating.

On the occasion of Christ's birth anniversary, the church father explained the story of Jesus to the congregation. On this occasion, the local Himayat Nagar corporator, Mahalakshmi Raman Goud, who was the chief guest, unveiled the new year calendar along with the church pastor, Dr Sammel.

Telangana Jagruthi president K Kavitha participated in the Christmas celebrations held at the Centenary Methodist Church on Chapel Road in Abids, Hyderabad, and offered special prayers. She recalled that she comes here every year to offer prayers.

Kavitha stated that compassion, love, forgiveness, patience, generosity, and sacrifice are the sublime messages that Christ conveyed to humanity through his life. On this occasion, she extended Christmas greetings to Christians. Meanwhile, the Christmas celebrations were held on the grand scale at the world-renowned Cathedral Church in Medak town, Telangana.

The festivities began early Thursday morning with a worship service. Devotees from various regions started arriving at the Medak CSI Church from midnight onwards to participate in the Christmas celebrations. The church premises were bustling with thousands of devotees from different regions, transcending caste and religion.

The church was overflowing with devotees who had come not only from all corners of the Telangana State, but also from neighboring States like Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Maharashtra. For the first service, the church in-charge, Bishop Right Reverend Reuben Mark, participated and delivered a sermon to the devotees. He also extended Christmas greetings to everyone celebrating the festival worldwide.
