YSRCP, TDP indulge in blame game over Gannavaram group clash

Blaming TDP for unleashing violence, Irrigation Minister Ambati Rambabu told the media on Thursday that the TDP stood exposed on the ‘fake and fabricated’ reports they published claiming that Pattabhiram received serious injuries during police custody. Naidu, on the other hand, shot off an open letter in which he called the people to join the fight to save the State from the atrocities and destructive rule of the YSRCP

Vijayawada: YSR Congress Party and its arch-rival Telugu Desam Party are indulging in a blame game in the aftermath of violence that broke out at Gannavaram on the outskirts of Vijayawada following allegations and counter-allegations over the alleged involvement of Gannavaram MLA Vallabheneni Vamsi and other ruling party leaders in the multi-crore Sankalpa Siddhi scam.

The violence that followed as a sequel to vandalising of TDP office and burning of a few vehicles parked on the compound triggered a group clash between the YSRCP and TDP supporters on Monday leading to imposition of prohibitory orders and arrest of 13 leaders. Prominent among them was TDP national spokesman K Pattabhiram who was remanded to 14-day judicial remand on Tuesday.

Sankalpa Siddhi e-Cart Private Ltd scam has become a talk of the town in the area in which multi-level marketing was promised with high returns and later the organisers had taken the gullible investors for a ride.

Following a complaint by Pattabhiram and others on his alleged involvement, Vamsi had filed a defamation suit and lodged a complaint with DGP K V Rajendranath Reddy for an independent probe and action against TDP leaders for levelling false charges to defame him. Another YSRCP MLA Kodali Nani was also accused of siding with the fraudsters by the TDP leaders.

Vamsi who won the Gannavaram seat on TDP ticket later defected to the YSRCP. Nani, a close follower of late Nandamuri Harikrishna and actor NTR Junior, later joined YSRCP and won continuously from Gudivada. Blaming TDP for unleashing violence, Irrigation Minister Ambati Rambabu told the media on Thursday that the TDP and its friendly media stood exposed on the ‘fake and fabricated’ reports they published claiming that Pattabhiram received serious injuries during police custody.

YSRCP general secretary and Government Advisor (Policy Affairs) Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy also found fault with former Chief Minister and TDP national president N Chandrababu Naidu for instigating people to indulge in violence. Naidu, on the other hand, shot off an open letter in which he called the people to join the fight to save the State from the atrocities and destructive rule of the YSRCP. He said that the atrocities of the ruling YSRCP are increasing day by the day and the dictatorial attitude of Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, is turning into a major setback to democracy.

He said “the State Government is resorting to violent activities, filing false cases and indecent attacks on the Opposition parties leaders for questioning the anti-democratic tendencies of the ruling dispensation.”

The destruction at Gannavaram is the latest and classic example of this, the TDP chief said, adding that the TDP leaders were subjected to severe torture at Gannavaram and their properties were completely destroyed. The TDP leaders who were attacked are being projected as the prime accused and sent to jail, he bemoaned.

He said “I am writing this open letter only to bring the facts to the notice of the public.” Expressing serious concern over lack of security for the properties of the common man under the YSRCP rule, Naidu said that the properties of the poor which they have acquired after struggling for their whole life are now being illegally occupied by the ruling party leaders.
