VPA Chairman receives award from Union Min

Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) Chairman M Angamuthu and others received ‘The Sagar Shrestha Samman’ Award by Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday.

The Minister earlier launched ‘Harit Sagar’ the green port guidelines at a function in New Delhi. The guidelines were aimed at the vision of achieving the Zero Carbon Emission Goal. Harit Sagar Guidelines-2023 envisages ecosystem dynamics in port development, operation, and maintenance while aligning with the ‘Working with Nature’ concept. It lays emphasis on use of clean or green energy in the port operation, developing port capabilities for storage, handling and bunkering of greener fuels like green hydrogen, green ammonia and green methanol or ethanol.

This is in tune with “Panchamrit” commitments announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for achieving quantifiable reductions in carbon emissions over a period.
