Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh is all set to witness a beehive of activity in the beginning of the New Year with Minister for Industries Gudivada Amarnath and Minister for Education Botcha Satyanarayana making separate announcements that Visakhapatnam will become the executive capital in three months.

The Ministers have also stated that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will soon lay the foundation stone for the Bhogapuram International Airport soon with the resolving of land acquisition cases filed in the AP High Court. The airport project has been awarded to GMR Group.

While praising Jagan Mohan Reddy for launching several welfare schemes during the past three years, they said industrialists are showing keen interest to invest in AP due to Ease of Doing Business and incentives offered to them. The government and the CII are also jointly hosting the Global Investment Conference here on March 3 and 4.

To make Visakhapatnam the executive capital, the government has to table three capital bills in the Assembly and Council after which the Governor has to issue notification. However, the Opposition parties including BJP, which is in power at the Centre, have declared their opposition to trifurcation of the capital.
