Vizag Steel Plant supporters stage protest

Vijayawada: The Ukku Porata JAC formed recently by the non-BJP parties here sometime ago recently organised rasta rokos in Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Rajamahendravaram and other places demanding retaining Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) in the public sector.

The protesters were arrested at various places for blocking traffic. In Visakhapatnam over 100 employees of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and trade union activists including JAC leaders D Adinarayana, J Ayodharam, Neerukonda Ramachandra Rao and others were taken into custody while staging a protest at Kurmannapalem junction.

The protesters raised slogans against the NDA Government for its decision to privatise the steel plant and appealed to it to retain it as a public sector by allotting captive iron mines and granting working capital through SAIL or NMDC.
