Telangana CM seeks Modi's support for various initiatives during his two-day visit

Hyderabad: During Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visit to Telangana, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy put forth several appeals to the Prime Minister. The requests made are outlined below:

The Chief Minister highlighted that while NTPC has a power generation capacity of 4000 MW, the previous government managed only 1600 MW. He urged the central government to assist in producing the remaining 2400 MW, promising all necessary state permissions.

The CM expressed readiness to undertake the Tummidihetti lift project and urged the Prime Minister to intervene with the Maharashtra government regarding land acquisition and water sharing.

The PM’s support was sought for the construction of an elevated corridor across the Amrabad forest area on the Hyderabad-Srisailam National Highway. The project, with an estimated cost of Rs. 7700 crore, received Rs. 3 crore for DPR preparation in 2022-23. This corridor, besides benefiting pilgrims to Srisailam, will shorten the distance from Hyderabad to Prakasam district of AP by 45 km, thereby expanding transport routes in South Telangana.

The CM appealed for financial assistance from the central government to provide tap water to all the households in the state. Nearly ten lakh families currently lack access to tap water and funds were requested for the Jala Jeevan Mission.

The CM expressed gratitude to the Central Government for permitting the construction of elevated corridors over Defence Department lands on the Hyderabad-Ramagundam and Hyderabad-Nagpur roads.

Additionally, he requested 178 acres of cantonment area for the construction of corridors, for the construction of 10 TMC of Kesavapuram reservoir near the village of Ponnala 1350 acres of military dairy farmlands (Tofekhana) should be transferred to the state. Field firing range lands of (1038 acres) in Shamirpet whose lease has expired should be handed back.

The IPS cadre allocation was emphasized to align with the increased number of districts and police commissioners in Telangana. While 76 IPS cadre posts were sanctioned in 2016, an urgent need for 29 additional posts was stressed due to district reorganization and population growth.

Hyderabad's status as a hub for research and higher education institutes was highlighted, urging the PM to set up an IIM (Indian Institute of Management) in the city. The state government pledged to allocate land for this purpose.

He urged the PM to note that there has been successful implementation of the National Health Mission in the state. 5259 Ayushman health centers have been in operation by the government. He requested the Centre to release Rs 347.54 crores, due to the state as the central share for the financial year 2023-24.

The Chief Minister urged the acceleration of eight projects under the Bharat Mala Paryojana that would benefit Telangana through national highway development. These include Kalvakurti-Kollapur, Gourelli-Waligonda, Thorrur-Nehrunagar, Nehrunagar-Kottagudem, Jagityala-Karimnagar four-lane, Jadcharla-Marical four-lane, and to permit the calling of tenders for the Marical-Diasagar project that was put on hold.

Cooperation was sought from the Center for establishing semiconductor manufacturing industries in Telangana. The state government's efforts to make Telangana a significant investment destination in electronics manufacturing were highlighted, with a request for assistance under the India Semi Conductors Mission.

During the visit, Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Reddy engaged in discussions regarding these appeals, with hopes for positive outcomes for Telangana state.
