Vijayawada: Industries Minister Gudivada Amarnath on Monday said despite all-round development of Andhra Pradesh under the leadership of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, a section of the media close to Telugu Desam Party (TDP), was spreading falsehood on creation of jobs and investments being made in the State.

Addressing a media conference at the YSRCP’s central office at Tadepalli near here, he said the attempts being made by the ‘yellow media’ to bring TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu to power were tarnishing the brand image of Andhra Pradesh.

Amarnath said after the YSRCP formed the government, the number of government employees had gone up from four lakh to six lakh with the introduction of Sachivalayams at the ward and village level and absorbing APSRTC in the government. In IT and electronics sector, the number of employees recruited during the TDP regime was 14,000 by attracting an investment of Rs 1,000 crore.

“In past four years, we have got investment of Rs5,700 crore and created job opportunities for 30,000,” he said adding Adani Data Centre and other projects coming up in Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Vijayawada and Anantapur will generate job opportunities for one lakh in IT and electronics sector.

Amarnath said in the MSME sector alone, they had brought an investment of Rs 24,000 crore in the past four years by creating jobs for as many as 12 lakh people. He said Bhogapuram International Airport with an initial investment of Rs4,200 crore, Mulapeta Port with an investment of Rs4,300 crore and Adani Data Park-the largest in India- with a total investment of about Rs22,000 crore will create a lot of jobs for the locals.

The Minister said the Chief Minister will lay the foundation stone for Machilipatnam Port on May 22 with an investment of Rs5,000 crore. He pointed out that they are trying to bring the first ship to Ramayapatnam Port by December 2023, or January 2024 adding that 40 per cent of construction on the Greenfield port has already been completed.

He said the Kadapa Steel Plant, which is being established by Jindal Group, with an investment of Rs 8,800 crore will change the industrial landscape of Rayalaseema region.
