TDP spent `30,000 cr on TIDCO houses, says Chandrababu Naidu

Visakhapatnam: TDP national president and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said on Thursday that his sole aim is that the poor should realise their dream to have a house of their own. In an interaction with the beneficiaries of the Andhra Pradesh Township and Infrastructure Development Corporation (APTIDCO) houses at Pendurthi, he said that it was the late NT Rama Rao, the founder of the TDP, who launched the programme of pucca houses for the poor. “I continue to see to it that the poor should own a decent house and build the TIDCO houses with the Centre’s cooperation,” the TDP supremo remarked.
Maintaining that the basic amenities like roads, drainage and water facility too have been provided for all such colonies in the State, Naidu said that over 7.5 lakh houses were sanctioned for the poor. “The TDP Government had spent over Rs 30,000 crore for construction of such housing units,” he added.
Of the total housing units sanctioned, 3.15 lakh houses were completed, the former Chief Minister stated and observed that the TDP had promised to complete all the remaining housing units too to see to it that every poor family should own a house. The design of the TIDCO houses was perfectly planned with 40 to 60 feet internal roads and the design of the houses too was planned in such a way that the family should live comfortably, he said.
Now, Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is planning to have only 12 feet internal roads on which two vehicles cannot move at a time, Naidu alleged. “As we have constructed parks and set up Anganwadi centres in all the TIDCO colonies, the beneficiaries were given the option to have the colour of their choice on their houses,” he pointed out.
