Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced the allocation of 3,500 Indiramma houses for each assembly constituency, totaling 4.50 lakh houses across the state. The project, amounting to Rs 22,500 crore, was unveiled by him at the Agricultural Market Committee Grounds in Bhadrachalam today.
Addressing the gathering, the CM emphasized the importance of Indiramma houses as symbols of self-respect for the poor, particularly highlighting their significance to the weaker sections of society, the Dalits, tribals, and the minorities. These houses, he noted, provide not just shelter but also a dignified life to the residents.
The Chief Minister underlined the government's commitment to women's empowerment by sanctioning these houses in the name of women. He stated that empowering women with the ownership of these houses leads to better family welfare and societal honor.
Taking a political jibe, the CM challenged former Chief Minister KCR and Prime Minister Modi to seek votes in villages where their respective housing schemes have benefited the poor. He criticized KCR for false promises regarding double-bedroom houses and credited the recent electoral success of Congress to the "Indiramma Rajyam" sentiment among voters.
Regarding Modi's promises, the Chief Minister highlighted unfulfilled pledges, such as bringing back black money from Swiss banks and depositing Rs. 15 lakhs into the accounts of the poor. He demanded transparency from BJP leaders regarding the Prime Minister's Awas Yojana and questioned the progress towards the promised goal of housing for all by 2022.
CM Revanth Reddy also mentioned the swift implementation of various welfare schemes within 92 days of his government being in power. These include free bus travel for women, an increase in the Arogyasri limit, and the promise of supplying gas cylinders at Rs. 500 to alleviate financial burdens.
In a gesture towards the development of Bhadrachalam, the CM allocated Rs. 500 crores for the construction of a ‘retaining wall’ that would protect the town from submergence. He also expressed gratitude to the people of Khammam district for their continued support to Congress, emphasizing the district's significance in launching the Indiramma housing scheme.
After the formalities at the Bhadrachalam temple, the CM presented Indiramma house pattas to women from various constituencies, including Pinapaka, Aswaraopet, Kothagudem, Bhadrachalam, and Illendu.
