Hyderabad: India has been under detention for the last eight years, said Revanth Reddy, President of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC). In an open letter to the people of Telangana, he alleged: "Not only freedom of expression, even freedom of life has become extinct. Anyone who questions them is branded as a traitor. Pointing out their mistakes is a crime."

Lambasting the Central government, he said: "The British divide and rule policy has been revived by the BJP. The daily life of people, what they eat and what they speak are also being dedicated by the government. The rupee has fallen like never before. Over 22 crore youth have been debilitated without employment or livelihood. Oil prices are sky-rocketing. The prices of essentials are reaching the stars."

Reddy also criticised the ruling government in Telangana. He said, "The TRS rule has been restricted to the farmhouse. For eight years, TRS has supported BJP's anarchy. TRS even supported the Centre's black Farm Laws. There is no end to the destruction of democratic institutions. With the front of welfare schemes, they are resorting to unhindered exploitation."

"Land rights for Podu lands in the State remain a bogus promise. The farm loan waiver was not been implemented. Farmer suicides continue, unabated. The guarantee of free fertilisers has been rooted out. Unemployment allowance remains a distant dream for the jobless youth while the promised government jobs continue as vacancies indefinitely," the TPCC president reminded.

He further alleged massive corruption in Mission Bhagiratha and Kaleshwaram projects. There is no end to the land scams and illegal encroachments. There is no progress on the allocation of double bedroom houses. The public education system has been completely destroyed and free healthcare remains a mirage, he said.

Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, has set out on the Bharat Jodo Yatra in these circumstances, Revanth says, adding that he has stepped forward for the sake of the country. "He is questioning the plight of the nation, breaking the shackles of subjugation, unifying the length and breadth of the country. Telangana people are giving the warmest of welcomes to this leader at every step of his way."
