Hyderabad: The presence of police at the residence of Endowments Minister Konda Surekha late Wednesday night caused a considerable stir within Telangana's political landscape.
This incident occurred subsequent to the State government's decision to terminate the services of Officer on Special Duty (OSD) N Sumanth, who had been assigned to the Minister. In addition to her role in managing the Endowments portfolio, Minister Konda Surekha also supervises the departments of Forests, Science, and Technology, under which Sumanth was appointed as OSD at the Pollution Control Board and was assigned to assist the Forest Minister.
In defense of the former OSD, the Minister's daughter, Konda Sushmitha, contended that the issue involving Deccan Cements arose following a meeting between Sumanth and Rohin Reddy, a close associate of the Chief Minister, during which they engaged in discussions at the Chief Minister's office. “Their conversation also included the management of Deccan Cements, which does not constitute a threat. If this situation is deemed extortionate, then it implicates both Rohin Reddy and the Chief Minister as well,” Sushmitha said in a video that has gone viral.
Sushmitha has leveled allegations against Government Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, and Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari, among others, claiming they have intentionally targeted her mother and family. She further asserted that Vem Narender, who previously contested and lost in the Warangal East constituency, is attempting to assert control over the area.
She urged that the telecommunications data of Deccan Cements, Rohin Reddy, and Sumanth be thoroughly examined and made publicly accessible. Additionally, she called upon her supporters to denounce the actions of the government and police, urging them to stand in solidarity.
