Vijayawada: Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated/laid foundation stone for several projects of national importance worth over Rs 32,000 crore from Jammu on Tuesday including the green campus of Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam (IIMV) and Indian Institute of Technology-Tirupati, IISER (Indian Institute of Science Education and Research)-Tirupati, IIITDM (Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing)-at Kurnool and IIIT (Indian Institute of Information Technology) at Sri City.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and his team of officials also took part in the function virtually from his camp office at Tadepalli near Vijayawada. The permanent campus of IIMV has been built in an area of 241.5 acres given by the State government free of cost and Rs 472.61 crore granted by the government of India. The campus has a built-up area of 62,350 square meters.

Earlier, Modi inaugurated and dedicated projects to the nation and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth over Rs 32,000 crore. The projects relate to several sectors including health, education, rail, road, aviation, petroleum, and civic infrastructure among others. The Prime Minister also distributed appointment orders to about 1500 new government recruits of Jammu and Kashmir and interacted with beneficiaries of various government schemes as part of the ‘Viksit Bharat Viksit Jammu’ program.

Mentioning India’s entry into the top five global economies, the Prime Minister acknowledged the growing capacity of the government to spend on welfare schemes due to the improving economy. He said that India can provide free ration, medical treatment, pucca houses, gas connections, toilets and PM Kisan Samman Nidhi due to an improved economy.
