'One station, one product' kiosk at Vizianagaram

In its commitment to promote local arts and handicrafts, Waltair Division of East Coast Railway in association with local recognised handicrafts and artisans' associations launched the 'one station one product' kiosks at Vizianagaram and Cheepurupalli stations on Monday.

Visakhapatnam: In its commitment to promote local arts and handicrafts, Waltair Division of East Coast Railway in association with local recognised handicrafts and artisans' associations launched the 'one station one product' kiosks at Vizianagaram and Cheepurupalli stations on Monday. At the Vizianagaram and Cheepurupalli stations, the Jute products stalls were provided in association with "Gogu Kiranalu Producers." a local jute products manufacturing unit. A wide variety of jute products like bags, holders, laptop bags, canvas and sacking cloth are made available at the stalls.

The kiosks were inaugurated by Divisional Railway Manager Anup Satpathy in the presence of ADRM (Operations) Manoj Kumar Sahoo, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager AK Tripathi, Senior DCM-II Preethi Rana and Divisional Commercial Manager Urvashi Kumari through video conferencing.

Waltair Division is on the move to provide such stalls over the division to promote local arts and handicrafts. It started the initiative with Etikoppaka toys at Visakhapatnam station on March 25, local artifacts stalls were opened at Rayagada, Jagdalpur, Duvvada and Paralakhemundi stations later.

DRM Satpathy interacted with the stall providers and said that the railway station will act as a marketing hub for the promotion and upliftment of local products. The main objective of the concept is to make each railway station a promotional hub and showcase destination for a local product, thereby giving a major boost to local industries, he added.
