Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy reaffirmed that the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRA) will rigorously enforce its mandate, targeting anyone involved in encroaching buffer zones and Full Tank Level (FTL) areas of water bodies.

Speaking to the media at the Secretariat here on Wednesday, the Chief Minister defended the ongoing demolition drive undertaken by the HYDRA and said that many celebrities and politicians who have built farmhouses are releasing drainage water into Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar lakes.

“Should the people of Hyderabad drink that drainage water? That’s why, we have taken up the demolition drive,” Revanth Reddy said.

Talking about BRS working president KT Rama Rao’s farmhouse at Janwada village in Rangareddy district, the Chief Minister questioned why was the subject of lease not mentioned in his election affidavit and demanded that KTR should be disqualified from the MLA post.

Stating that the State government was not showing any discrimination towards anyone, be it the ruling party or the opposition, during the demolition drive, Revanth Reddy reminded that the first house that was demolished by the HYDRA belonged to a Congress leader, Pallam Raju.

About the grant of bail to BRS MLC Kavitha by the Supreme Court, the Chief Minister stated that it was a fact that the BRS party had sacrificed MP seats for Kavitha’s bail during the recently held Parliament elections and Kavitha’s bail was part of the BRS-BJP agreement.

“Kavitha secured bail in five months when Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was in jail for 17 months in the same case. Similarly, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is still in jail in the same liquor policy case,” Revanth Reddy pointed out.
