TDP national president N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday promised Rs 6,000 monthly pension for the physically challenged by the TDP, BJP and Jana Sena coalition if it is voted to power.

He also promised to increase the social security pension to the aged, widows and others to Rs 4,000 from Rs 3,000 being paid by the YSRCP government at present. "A few physically challenged people met me during my recent visit to Sattenapalli and submitted a memorandum in which they wanted some financial assistance. On their request I made a promise to them that Rs 6,000 monthly pension will be paid for them immediately after the NDA comes to power," Naidu said in a press note released here. Despite the State facing certain economic problems this decision has been taken keeping in view the difficulties of the physically challenged, he said.

Observing that it is the TDP that has been giving high priority for the welfare and self-respect of the physically challenged, Naidu said that during the TDP regime various competitions were conducted for them and even prizes were distributed for the winners.

But the YSRCP government has cancelled all the welfare schemes implemented during the TDP regime, Naidu said and added that soon after the NDA comes to power more importance will be given to the physically challenged.

During the campaigning, Naidu has been attacking the State government for the chaos created by the ruling party for payment of monthly pension by spreading rumours that the TDP was responsible for volunteers not handing over the pension at the doorsteps of the people. He said by deploying secretariat staff, the pension could have been handed over at the doorsteps on time and blamed the YSRCP for the death of some seriously ill patients at the time of waiting for their turns in scorching sun.

Naidu promised to sign mega DSC notification immediately after forming the government.
