  • Yuva Galam 1.0 was initiated on Jan 27 at Kuppam, covering 2852 km in 84 Assembly segments before suspending on Sept 9 due to Naidu’s arrest

Visakhapatnam: TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh on Monday resumed the Yuva Galam padayatra from Podalada in BR Ambedkar Konaseema district with a big bang - his first after his party forged an alliance with film actor and Jana Sena Party president K Pawan Kalyan.

With renewed vigour, during the padayatra Lokesh attacked the ruling YSRCP for muzzling the voice of the Opposition parties by foisting false cases against the leaders exposing the corrupt deals and nepotism under the YSRCP government. He urged people to extend their cooperation to fight unitedly to dislodge YSRCP from power and install the TDP government after the elections early next year.

Yuva Galam 1.0 was launched at Kuppam in undivided Chittoor district on January 27 and covered 2852 km in 84 Assembly segments in a span of 208 days before suspending it on September 9 after his father, TDP national president N Chandrababu Naidu’s arrest in an alleged corruption case by the CID. Interacting with villagers at P Gannavaram, Lokesh assured GAIL-affected villagers of Nagaram to take up their demand for better compensation and rehabilitation to the notice of GAIL and ONGC. In the pipeline burst in 2014, 22 people died on June 27, 2014.

The villagers alleged that though the then TDP government paid ex gratia of Rs 25 lakh, GAIL and ONGC failed to give the promised compensation on their behalf. Described as Yuva Galam 2.0, the latest round of padayatra was re-launched at 11.19 am as per prior announcement after a gap of 79 days. It will cover Kapu-dominated Razole, P Gannavaram, Mummidivaram, Kakinada, Pithapuram and enter the undivided Visakhapatnam district from Tuni and Annavaram.
