Jagan Slams AP Govt For Filing Cases Against Social Media Activists

Amaravati: YSRCP president and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday came down heavily on the coalition government for foisting 'false and fabricated' cases against social media and political activists who are questioning the government's failure to keep election promises and maintain the law and order machinery.
Speaking to reporters at Tadepalli, he alleged that even after forming the government on June 12, the election promises made by the coalition had remained on the paper. He said those questioning the government's style of functioning are being booked in false cases. He said YSRCP activists and leaders are being targeted as part of political vendetta after the elections.
Jagan said the crackdown launched by the police against the social media activists is politically motivated and described it as a blackspot in democracy. Accusing the detention and arrest of the activists as a violation of fundamental rights, he said there has been an alarming rise in attacks on YSRCP activists since the formation of the government led by TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu. He said the abuse of police power tantamounts to murdering democracy. He said all the bold decisions taken by the previous government like introduction of English medium teaching in schools are discontinued without any valid reason.
Jagan said if the government did not withdraw the cases registered against the activists, YSRCP will stand solidly after them by extending legal aid and approaching the judiciary for justice.
