Jagan hits out at Naidu & Co. for vilification campaign against YSRCP

Guntur YSRCP president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday said despite several hurdles created by his detractors mainly the Opposition led by TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu, he is firm in carrying out the unfulfilled dream of his father and former Chief Minister Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

Addressing a well-attended two-day plenary of YSRCP on the sprawling grounds of Acharya Nagarjuna University here, he said the TDP with the help of 'yellow TV networks, newspapers and social media' is carrying out a vilification campaign against the State Government to tarnish his image. He said "Naidu and his henchmen are unable to stomach his growing support base and the good governance ensured by him drawing inspiration from his father after his untimely demise."

Giving details on the revolutionary decisions taken by his government for providing education to all, offering incentives to the farmers and support extended to the marginalised sections, he said the Opposition had nothing to counter him. As a result, they are indulging in false propaganda to mislead the public.

Reddy said over 90% of promises made by him during the elections after the State-wide padayatra. He said unlike TDP, which deleted its election manifesto from its website, said he had just NavaRatnalu as his promise and mostly fulfilled almost all the promises in the past three years despite financial mismanagement by the erstwhile TDP and prolonged spell of COVID-19.

Reddy said he had not only given monetary help to the people but also cleared the outstanding amount which was promised but not released by the TDP when it was in power during 2014-15.

He recalled how he began his struggle after YSR's demise with 'Vodarpu Yatra' in September, 2009 and subsequently formed YSRCP in March, 2011. Despite a misinformation campaign by his detractors and the gang of 'thieves' and Naidu's 'adopted son' (in an oblique reference to Jana Sena president Pawan Kalyan), he is continuing his mission to serve the people. "I am with the people and the people are with me. I will not bother despite the distortion of facts by the Opponents through yellow media," he said.

Thanking people for the massive mandate given to his party in 2019, he said it was poetic justice that TDP could get only 23 MLAs and three MPs after trying to 'purchase' MLAs and MPs elected on his party ticket during 2014-19. He asked the party rank and file to maintain good rapport with the masses and take up the problems faced by them for timely redressal.

YSRCP honorary president Vijayamma, parliamentary party leader V. Vijaya Sai Reddy, Advisor (Public Affairs) Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, TTD Chairman S.V. Subba Reddy, Ministerial colleagues and others attended.

Earlier, the Chief Minister took to Twitter and posted an emotional message. He said that he always sees glimpses of his father 'YSR in the smiles of crores of people who admired him. "Your life always is an inspiration for me, where you have kept your promises and lived by your ideology to which you were bound till the last breath. Your aspirations and ideas for people's welfare are the guiding force for this government," he said on Twitter.
