Infy paves way to IT boost in Vizag

Visakhapatnam: As the stage is set for Infosys to launch its operations in Visakhapatnam on October 1, its entry to the City of Destiny will certainly give a big boost to the promotion of Brand Vizag as an IT hub.

Infosys has taken a software company building, which was earlier leased out during TDP government for fintech valley project, at IT Special Economic Zone, Madhurawada. Initially, it will have a 1,000 seater office and later scale up to 3,000 in phases. The company which has deputed senior officials earlier is also in talks with the State government to explore developing a permanent campus in future.

Presently, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Cyient, Conduent, Fluentgrid, Miracle City, Symbiosys Technologies and few other companies have their operations in the city. After the decision of HSBC to shift, WNS has taken over its building for its operations. IT and Industries minister Gudivada Amarnath told Bizz Buzz that there are plans to bring many more big players to Visakhapatnam so as to provide jobs to many. He said the YSRCP government is committed to roll out a red carpet welcome to investors.

Welcoming the entry of Infosys into AP, IT Association of AP (ITAAP) president Sridhar Kosaraju said entry of anchor companies like Infosys will facilitate reverse migration. He said due to the efforts of the government and ITAAP, people from Andhra Pradesh who are working abroad and other metros are now showing interest to come back to their native places. He said there are indications that HCL and Dallas Technologies may also start their operations from Visakhapatnam.

Visakhapatnam has an annual turnover of over Rs 2500 crore from IT and ITeS. The turnover is expected to witness a quantum jump if a few more big players launch their operations from the city. Adani Group has acquired 130 acres here to launch work on its Rs 14,500 crore data park.

Plans are on to bring many more big players to Visakhapatnam so as to provide jobs to many. The YSRCP government is committed to roll out a red carpet welcome to investors
