Hyderabad: India reiterated its stance on the relationship with China, highlighting ongoing diplomatic and military engagements to address unresolved issues in eastern Ladakh. The prolonged standoff, surpassing three and a half years, continues between Indian and Chinese troops at specific points in this region, despite successful disengagement from various areas post-extensive negotiations.

Randhir Jaiswal, the External Affairs Ministry spokesperson, reaffirmed this position during a media briefing in response to queries about eastern Ladakh. Jaiswal referenced recent military and diplomatic discussions in October and November, emphasizing the objective of engaging for potential resolution.

The October 9 and 10 military talks focused on openly exchanging views for an early and mutually acceptable resolution of remaining issues along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Western Sector. Similarly, the diplomatic talks on November 30 aimed at exploring proposals for complete disengagement in eastern Ladakh.

India consistently asserts that normalized ties with China hinge on peace in border areas. The tensions initially erupted on May 5, 2020, after a violent clash in the Pangong Lake area, which further escalated following a significant conflict in the Galwan Valley in June 2020, marking a severe military confrontation in decades.

Following a series of military and diplomatic dialogues, progress was made, leading to the completion of the disengagement process in 2021 at the north and south banks of the Pangong Lake and in the Gogra area.

The ongoing discussions underscore the commitment of both nations to finding a resolution and reducing tensions in the disputed region. These engagements aim to pave the way for stability and normalized relations between India and China, crucial for regional and international interests.

India's consistent diplomatic efforts to resolve border disputes and maintain peace demonstrate a dedicated approach toward fostering regional stability. The engagements reflect a continuous pursuit of dialogue and resolution, steering away from further escalation and promoting diplomatic solutions to longstanding issues. These talks remain pivotal in shaping the future trajectory of relations between the two Asian giants, with broader implications for global geopolitics.
