Hyderabad a preferred destination for GCCs: KTR
Availability of talent, stable government, able leadership, livability and infrastructure are the key reasons for the GCCs to choose Hyderabad, the minister said during Nasscom GCC Conclave 2022

Hyderabad: Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Google, Apple and Wells Fargo are the Global Capability Centers (GCCs) that have expanded in Hyderabad and made the city as their second home after their headquarters, Telangana Minister for IT and Industries KT Rama Rao said during the inaugural session of Nasscom GCC Conclave 2022 in Hyderabad on Thursday.
He says, "Apart from these top five, we have some of the prominent GCCs who set up their offices during the last 5-7 years - DBS Bank, Pepsi, Chubb, Mass Mutual, Goldman Sachs, Swiss Re, GAP, ZF, Arcesium, Advanced Auto Parts, State Street, Intel, ICE, F5 Networks, Micron, and Callaway Golf. We have done all these without IT Investment Region (ITIR)."

He further said, "Our infrastructure is unparallel when compared to other cities. The IT hub is reachable from the international airport or any prominent location in the city in less than an hour. On top of the excellent internal roads, Metro connectivity with about 70 km is operational and we are envisaging an elevated Bus Rapid Transit System (EBRTS) line from KPHB to Kokapet."
"We have taken up several Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP) projects and laid 30 flyovers (out of 47 planned) in the past eight years to ensure smooth flow of traffic in the city. We are adjudged as the most livable city in India for six years in a row by Mercer - a globally reputed agency," KTR added.
About one third of the employees working in any IT company in India are estimated to be from Hyderabad and surrounding areas. Thanks to educational institutions in Telangana. The State has over 150 engineering colleges producing over 1 lakh engineers every year. Most employees prefer moving to Hyderabad given a chance from other comparable metros.
The attrition levels in Hyderabad are half of those at other metro cities. The State government has released our 2nd ICT Policy 2021-26. In addition to the policy measures, the government is willing to listen to the industry all the time. It has also released Growth in Dispersion (GRID) policy to take the IT sector to different parts of the city and also to tier-II cities of the State.
Telangana has the world's largest innovation ecosystem enabler T-Hub. The State also has other innovation programmes including WeHub, T-Works, Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad (RICH), and Telangana State Innovation Cell (TSIC) that build innovation in different segments.
The State has a unique programme called Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK) that focuses on building talent. It runs the induction programme tailored for the requirement of the GCCs. No other State offers such type of an arrangement. It has set up Centers of Excellence in various technologies including cybersecurity and artificial intelligence (AI).
The State government works actively with many industry bodies such as Nasscom, TIE, AMCHAM and HYSEA. It has also taken a sectoral approach and fostering a robust ecosystem. A consortium of 30 BFSI (banking, financial services and insurance) entities created a Fintech Forum for creating domain expertise, risk mitigation, and influencing policy.
"We are working with all large original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), suppliers, technology companies and operators across the globe to create Telangana Mobility Valley (TMV) as the most comprehensive mobility ecosystem in India. We will reveal more details of this on July 6, 2022," KTR informed.
"Hyderabad has also a very unique - Cyberabad Security Council - an arrangement between the Police Department and the IT Industry that ensures elements such as security, women safety, traffic regulation, and cyber security in the IT corridors. We are the adjudged the safest metro statistically," he added.
Uber started with an initial employee estimate of 500 in three years and they have crossed 2,000 in half the time and are still expanding. ZF, a German multinational company in the mobility space, was inaugurated in 2017 with a target employee count of 1,000 in five years. Today, after five years, it launched their new office in Nanakgramguda, with a headcount of 3,000.
