Vijayawada: As part of objective of Andhra Pradesh State Government to facilitate energy efficient appliances at best quality to the beneficiaries of India’s biggest housing program “Navaratnalu Pedalandariki Illu” to showcase energy savings, reduce electricity cost, enhance energy efficiency and protect environment, Andhra Pradesh Housing Department has urged Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL),to support in supply of best quality energy efficient appliances.

During a meeting between EESL and AP Housing Department officials on housing scheme on Wednesday, Special Chief Secretary of Housing Ajay Jain requested EESL to supply energy efficient appliances like LED bulbs, tube lights and energy efficient fans at cost effective rates lower than market prices to facilitate houses being constructed under Navaratnalu Pedal Andariki Illu scheme.

Jain said that the Housing Department will distribute four LED bulbs, two LED tube lights and two energy efficiency fans to each beneficiary. It is expected to save around 734 units of energy per house per annum. It is estimated that around Rs 352 crore per annum could be saved by using energy efficient appliances in 15.6 lakh houses that are being constructed under phase-1 of housing scheme.

He said AP State Housing Department is ready to procure energy efficient appliances through EESL directly duly following the State Government and Government of India procedures with any advance payment if required.

EESL officials indicated that 50, 60 and 90 percent energy savings could be achieved by using energy efficient fans, LED tube lights and LED bulbs respectively when compared to conventional appliances.
