BRS hits back at TS Cong debt white paper, releases asset report in 51 slide presentation

Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Wednesday released a 51-slide powerpoint presentation detailing the assets created while the K Chandrasekhar Rao government was in power over the last 10 years. The presentation, in counter to the white paper presented by the ruling Congress government on the finance of the State, lists out the development achieved in the two tenures of BRS rule, right from the power sector to agriculture.

The BRS party had sought permission from the Speaker G Prasad Kumar to present its powerpoint in the Telangana Assembly, but was denied the same. The copy of the presentation was then released to the media.

After the formation of Telangana, the assets of the State increased by 159 per cent. For every Rs 1 borrowed by the BRS government, an asset worth Rs 1,000 was created, the presentation said.

The presentation also draws comparison of the State’s growth in 2014 to that of 2023. Details of growth in GSDP, Sales Tax, registration income, development in infrastructure, decentralisation of the State’s districts from 10 to 33, and the number of municipalities increased from 52 to 128, are among the others listed.

In addition, the per capita income of the State went up by 151 per cent, tax collection by 161 per cent and revenue from stamps and registration shot up by 406 per cent. The production of crops increased multifold, such as paddy by 150 per cent and cotton by 50 per cent. Similarly, while compared to 2014, the area under cultivation also increased by 50 per cent, the BRS presentation said.
