BRS govt created top-notch educational facilities in Telangana: KTR
The State has the highest number of residential educational institutions in the country, says BRS Working President
Hyderabad: Telangana is setting a new benchmark in terms of quality of education and infrastructure whether it is school education, higher education, technical education, or medical education, said BRS Working President KT Rama Rao.
He stated that the number of residential educational institutions and higher education colleges added in the State in the last 9+ years is unparalleled. He added that the BRS government has invested a huge amount of budget to improve the standards of education and quality of services in the state-run educational institutions.
Highlighting that the BRS government under the leadership of KCR was empowering Telangana with the highest number of Gurukuls in India, He said that the State has the highest number of residential educational institutions in the country. “The total figure of BC, SC, ST, and Minority Gurukuls put together is at 1000+. This includes residential schools, junior colleges, and degree colleges,” he said.
The BRS Working President said that every year, Rs 1.25 lakh is spent on each student in these Gurukuls to impart quality education, to provide nutritious food, accommodation, and other facilities.
KTR said that the underprivileged students who studied in these institutions have secured good ranks in many competitive exams, secured seats in premier institutes like IITs, IIMs, reputed Indian universities, and also in foreign universities.
“This social welfare residential education setup is a boon to the marginalized sections and seats in these institutions are the most sought after,” he added.
KTR stated that the ‘Mana Ooru - Mana Badi’ program has empowered Telangana by reshaping the government schools. He added that the program helped in a comprehensive development and strengthening of Infrastructure facilities in the government schools. “A total of 26,065 schools are being developed in three phases with a total budget outlay of Rs. 7,289 crores. This program has given a major facelift to the government schools with an overhaul of all the essential facilities."
Talking about the development of higher educational institutions, KTR said that the Gross Enrollment Ratio of Telangana in Government Degree Colleges is 36.2, which is higher than the national average. He also added that the admissions in the govt. Degree Colleges are up by 68 per cent due to course redesign.
KTR mentioned a list of new higher education colleges established after 2014, which included: Konda Laxman Telangana State Horticultural University, Forest College and Research Institute (To be upgraded to India's first and world's third Forest University), Funds allocated for construction of new buildings for 34 Government Degree Colleges, Seven model degree colleges in educationally backward districts, New government polytechnic colleges, agriculture colleges, nursing colleges, degree colleges, junior colleges, JNTU colleges at Sircilla and Wanaparthy, JNTUH University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences in Sultanpur, Sangareddy District, sanctioned two Government Junior Colleges in Manuguru and Maheshwaram
KTR highlighted that 21 new government medical colleges were established after 2014 and 8 more were sanctioned. The BRS government has also started many study circles, libraries, established TASK (Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge), and opened skill development centres across the State.
