Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Minister for Information and Public Relations Ch Venugopala Krishna on Monday said the State is ahead of other States in attracting investments and implementing welfare measures for the poorer and marginalised sections due to proactive policies pursued by the YSRCP Government led by Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

He told reporters that according to the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Government of India, AP had attracted an investment of Rs 40,361 crore out of Rs 1.71 lakh crore received for the entire country. He said even during two years of pandemic, the country recorded a growth of minus 6.60 per cent whereas AP due to policies of Jagan Mohan Reddy could achieve 0.08 per cent growth. The per capita income in AP was 38.5 per cent more than the national per capita.

The Minister said AP’s GSDP was 11.43 per cent in 2021-22-highest in any State as against national GDP of 8.7 per cent during the TDP regime led by N Chandrababu Naidu the growth rate was just 5.36 per cent. He said the Opposition supported by the media close to it was spreading falsehood by distorting facts to give an impression that there is no development in AP after YSRCP came to power.

It has occupied the first position among Southern States, he said and exuded confidence that the Global Investors’ Summit (GIS) being hosted in Visakhapatnam on March 3 and 4 will attract huge investments from all over the world.
