Visakhapatnam: Continuing his tirade against the YSRCP Government for fourth day of his 'Yuva Gulam' padayatra, TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh on Monday said that when the TDP was in power the State progressed well but after the YSRCP came to power it is moving in the reverse direction.

Yuva Gulam (voice of youth) padayatra, which Lokesh launched from Kuppam, the TDP stronghold in Chittoor district, on January 27, is scheduled to cover 4,000 km in about 400 days. The yatra will culminate into a public meeting at Ichchapuram in Srikakulam district bordering Odisha. The yatra is considered as an attempt to prepare their party and the young leader to face the ensuring general elections.

Interacting with the youth at the 'Hello Lokesh' programme organised here by the locals here as part of his ongoing padayatra, he said Andhra Pradesh moved on the progressive path for 67 years. "But after Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy became the Chief Minister, the State's progress took a reverse mode due to a series of anti-people decisions like formation of three capitals," he alleged.

Observing that he launched the 'Yuva Galam' only to stand by the youth which is fighting for their future, Lokesh felt that this 2024 Assembly elections is a very good opportunity for the youth to send Jagan home. Maintaining that the YSRCP president is taking shelter at his Tadepalle mansion, the TDP general secretary said that the Chief Minister of a State should always champion the cause of the people and side with them by understanding their sufferings.

What happened to the Special Category Status for the State which the Chief Minister had promised before coming to power, he asked and pointed out that the youth lost employment opportunities after YSRCP assumed charge. "Except for falling at the feet of the elders in Delhi, Jagan is not raising the State issues with the Centre," he pointed out.

The Chief Minister who promised three lakh jobs to the youth every year through job calendar is now issuing job-less calendar, he said and remarked that the vacancies in Police Department and the posts of teachers are not being filled. Why the Chief Minister, who was totally in support of a single capital before coming to power, is now harping on trifurcation of capital, he asked.

"Decentralisation means providing employment opportunities to the youth as per the population ratio in different regions of the State but not raising slogans like three-capitals which is not possible," Lokesh remarked.

Jagan Mohan Reddy's ongoing visit to Delhi is only to save his party MP Y S Avinash Reddy, who represents Kadapa for second consecutive term from the charges that he is facing now, Lokesh said and asked the youth present at the meet whether they could guess now as to who killed Jagan's paternal uncle, Y S Vivekananda Reddy.

The TDP leader asked whether the State needs a Chief Minister like Jagan and the Minister for IT and Industries Gudivada Amarnath, who could not go to Davos to invite investors to the State. "It is really shameful that the Chief Minister did not visit Davos due to the heavy cold," he remarked.

Observing that over 35 lakh youth remained jobless after YSRCP formed the government, he said that he launched the 'Yuva Galam' to see to it that Jagan remains permanently in the Tadepalle mansion. Providing employment opportunities to the youth will be on top of the TDP manifesto and radical changes will be brought in the education system within one year of the TDP coming back to power, he promised.
