AP govt launches campaign to elicit public opinion

• 1.6 crore households, 14-day period, 5 crore population

• Public opinion on YSRCP implemented schemes over last 4 years

• Feedback received will be submitted to the party central leadership

Visakhapatnam: In the run-up to the general elections in 2024 with a call for ‘why not 175,’ the YSR Congress Party on Friday launched a massive door-to-door survey to present a comparative study on the performance of present government and the erstwhile TDP regime.

Naming it as ‘Jagananna Maa Bhavishyathu’ (Jagan anna our future), seven lakh village/ward secretariat (sachivalayam) conveners and Gruha Saradhulu recruited by the party will reach 1.6 crore households during the 14-day period covering the entire five crore population in the State. During the door-to-door outreach programme, the secretariat conveners and Gruha Saradhulu will elicit the opinion of the people on various schemes being implemented by YSRCP Government during the past four years. With an eye on elections, the government also launched a family doctor programme to render medical services including clinical investigations at the doorsteps of the people on Thursday.

After ‘Badude Badude’ and ‘Idi Emi Karma,’ TDP national president N Chandrababu Naidu at a meeting here recently said the people are yearning for change and gave a call to the party cadres to explore ‘why not Pulivendula.’ Pulivendula in YSR Kadapa district is represented by Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

YSRCP launched the campaign across the State by Education Minister Botsa Satyanarayana, Rajya Sabha MP Alla Ayodhya Rami Reddy, MLC Marri Rajasekhar and Lok Sabha MP Sanjeev Kumar at the party’s central office at Tadepalli.

Rajasekhar later told the media that “never in this country has any political party dared to go in public and seek a review of its performance. We are confident of our work and the people’s support and so we will present you the result of this mega people’s survey when the campaign culminates on April 20.”

On the first day of the mass contact programme, YSRCP functionaries and activists explained to the people how the present government had not only enhanced the allocations but also increased the number of beneficiaries and introduced innovative programmes. The feedback received during the campaign will be submitted to the party central leadership for consideration and mid-course corrections if any.

Launching the scheme at Tirupati, MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy said the people are impressed with the welfare schemes being implemented by the government and their win in 2024 is a foregone conclusion.

In Visakhapatnam, local MP MVV Satyanarayana said Andhra Pradesh has emerged as a role model due to implementation of several revolutionary schemes to improve the living conditions of the people. He said the response to the Global Investors’ Summit (GIS) itself was a pointer to the fact of investors’ confidence.

YSRCP general secretary and Advisor (Public Affairs) said Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s intention is to bring a visible change in the people’s lives and political parties should be accountable for them. As part of the campaign, the MLAs and regional coordinators will actively coordinate with secretariat conveners and Gruha Saradhulu will also provide a questionnaire to the public and gather their feedback about the welfare done to them after YSRCP came to power, drawing a comparison on the implementation of schemes with the previous TDP regime, he said.

The party leadership things that based on the feedback gathered from the public during the ‘Gadapa Gadapaku Mana Prabhutvam’ (GGMP) taken by MLAs and from volunteers, around 80-90 per cent of the public stated that they have noticed a remarkable change and expressed their confidence that ‘Jagan is the State’s only future.’

In a review of GGMP, the Chief Minister also said that around 92 per cent of people out of 1.6 crore families in rural areas and 84 per cent in urban areas, which means 87 per cent of people on average in the State received the fruits of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) or non Direct Benefit Transfer schemes implemented by the government under which they had released Rs 2.05 lakh crore during the past four years.
