Visakhapatnam: Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy will lay the foundation stone for the Adani Data Park on March 3 coinciding with the hosting of two-day Global Investment Summit (GIS).

The data park project is envisaged with an investment of Rs 14,000-odd crore. It will be a green project with a 200 MW solar power plant. It will be implemented over a period of seven years. The State Government has already leased out 130 acres to the project proponent.

Announcing this, Minister for Industries, Commerce and IT Gudivada Amarnath said on Thursday that several investors were evincing interest to start their projects in Andhra Pradesh due to proactive approach and industry-friendly policies introduced by Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

He was speaking at the inaugural of the two-day Global Tech Summit hosted here by Pulsus Group, AP Electronics and IT Agency (APEITA) in association with others.

Amarnath said the government has identified land for establishing IT parks near the proposed Bhogapuram International Airport in Vizianagaram district and another in Anantapur district in the close vicinity of Bangalore Airport. He said Visakhapatnam already has two IT parks and the city is all set to become a world-class IT hub. He announced that the government will develop IT concept cities in Visakhapatnam, Tirupati and Anantapur.

He said the IT park in Anantapur will be spread over 500 to 600 acres. Taking advantage of digital technologies, the government is encouraging work from the hometown concept on the lines of work from home.

The government is setting up 15,000 digital libraries which will provide a low-cost work atmosphere for the techies to work from their hometowns. He said one among four IT professionals working in the United States belongs to Andhra Pradesh. Work from the hometown facility has been launched recently at Kadapa.

Stating that Infosys will launch its operations in Visakhapatnam shortly, he said Randstad India’s office was opened in the city sometime ago.
